AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.) NYSE: AMD is a US multinational semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, California that develops computer processors and related technologies for the consumer and commercial markets. The main products include microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, graphics card embedded processors (GPUs) and processors for servers, workstations and personal computers (PCs), and processor technology for handheld devices, digital television, cars, game consoles, and other applications that have systems .

AMD is the second largest global supplier of microprocessors based on the x86 architecture after Intel Corporation, and the third largest supplier of graphics processing units. He also owns 21 percent of Spansion, a supplier of non-volatile flash memory. In 2007, AMD ranked eleventh among semiconductor producers in terms of revenue.

AMD used to have 2 factories, the first being in Austin, Texas, America, and the second factory in Dresden, Germany, but since 2012, the AMD factory has split itself as a company called Global Foundries. even so, AMD still ordered the manufacture of a microprocessor for the former factory and also ordered the manufacture of a microprocessor at a Taiwanese company called TSMC to produce power-saving microprocessors such as amd z series

AMD announced a merger with ATI Technologies on July 24, 2006. AMD paid $ 4.3 billion in cash and 58 million shares of shares totaling US $ 5.4 billion. The merger was completed on October 25, 2006 and ATI is now part of AMD.

In 2011 AMD made several changes to its products, one of which was AMD released its latest product called AMD Accelerated Processing Unit. which is where this technology combines AMD processor units, Northbride chipset and Radeon graphics processing chipset (GPU), into one processor which is expected to be able to compete with rival Intel for the low-mid end processor market share. the advantage of AMD APU is the performance of a powerful graphics processor that is equivalent to a professional graphics card which can also use certain AMD Radeon series graphics cards to increase graphics performance up to 2x as much as AMD Dual Graphics technology and this year AMD released an AMD processor FX uses the latest modular architecture which is somewhat similar to the Intel hypertreading feature, which is expected with this modular architecture, AMD can create processors that are more energy efficient, low temperature and also have affordable prices compared to the usual multithread architecture concept used in the previous generation processor. will also intend to use this modular architecture concept to be used in AMD FX processors, AMD APUs and also the next generation AMD Opteron. besides introducing the latest products, AMD is also aggressive in supporting software, one of which is to increase game and software support that is optimized with AMD products, both processors and graphics cards. AMD also conducted a neat settle bundle program in 2012-2013 which gave coupons for several games that were optimized with AMD's latest AMD graphics card and processor, one of which was the Farcry 3 game.
